The Mossville junior high boys ended their season with a run at the IESA State Cross Country meet on Saturday at Parkside in Normal.

“Competing against the elite runners of the state, the team represented Mossville superbly,” coach Michele Stewart said.

The Warriors finished the day 20th out of the 24 teams competing.

Leading the eighth grade Warriors was Finnian Jetton at 12:30. Michael Kupfer was right on his heels at 12:33 and Arthur Harris rounded out for the boys at 12:51.

The sixth graders were led by Collin Eisenbarth at 12:44 with Jacob Koch crossing the finish line at 15:54.

Jayden McNaught was the long fifth grader to close out at 13:43.

“From the beginning of the season, Finnian, Michael and Collin wanted a repeat opportunity to run at the State meet as they did last year,” Stewart said.

“They talked about it all year and worked hard to get there. Arthur really came on strong this year to be our fourth runner. Jayden improved every single race to become the fifth scorer for our team. I admire these young men, their perseverance, practice attitude and positive leadership they have shown all season.”
