Warriors’ boys team earns way to State

Running in the Class 1A IESA Sectional Saturday at East Moline, the Mossville Junior High boys cross country team earned third and a place at the IESA State meet Saturday in Normal.

This will be the third consecutive year the boys have qualified for State.

“After losing four of our top runners when they moved onto high school, these six boys never gave up all season and really wanted another State appearance,” coach Michele Stewart said.

“We edged Brimfield by three points to place third behind Elmwood and Princeville.”

The boys were ahead of Brimfield by just three points with Elmwood and Princeville in the lead in first and second.

Leading the MJH boys team was Collin Eisenbarth in 15th at 11:46. Finnian Jetton crossed the line at 11:55 for 20th and Michael Kupfer finished in 26th at 12:19.

Arthur Harris wasn’t far off in 28th at 12:20 and Jayden McNaught was in 48th 13:33.

Rounding out for the Warriors was Jacob Koch in 60th at 14:49.

The Lady Warrior runners were able to earn fifth place behind Brimfield, Princeville, Elmwood and Peoria’s St. Philomena.

Leading the pack was Kayla Wolf in 22nd at 13:32 with Bronwyn Jetton close by in 25th at 13:42.

Marley Williamson closed the race out in 30th at 14:04 and Abby Petran was in 33rd at 14:19.

In 36th was Mikayla Kohlman at 14:31 and Eve Blanch finished in 37th at 14:32. Abi Slater finished in 39th at 15:00.
