St. Edward Catholic School eighth grader Hunter Mettille competed well in the IESA State golf tournament.

Mettille earned 11th place after working his way to the State tournament after scoring an 85 at Ironwood in Normal in the Sectional.

Mettille was able to mark seven pars total in the 18 holes with three on the last three holes.

At Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria for the State tourney, Mettille shot an 82 to earn 11th.

Mettille was the only golfer to score an eagle and did so early on the second hole when shooting a three on the par five.

His first birdie for the day was on the par four on hole five to set him at one over.

On the back nine, Mettille marked two pars and his second birdie was on the par five No. 14.
