IVC running well on track

The IVC girls and boys track teams are holding up well after another week of running.

The girls varsity hosted Mendota and Spring Valley Hall and traveled to Ottawa for a dual.

The boys hosted Spring Valley Hall side-by-side with the girls and then raced with Dunlap. 

Girls

Mendota 90, IVC, 83, Spring Valley Hall 79

The Lady Grey Ghosts hosted Mendota and Spring Valley Hall April 8 to come in second with 83 points.

IVC had five athletes finish in first place, six in second and five in third for the day.

Alexis Eckhoff finished first in the long jump at 15-feet-2.5-inches. Eckhoff placed first in the 100-meter dash at 14.28 and freshman Taylor White came in third at 14.66.

In the triple jump, Eckhoff earned second at 30-09.

Junior Hannah Scherer earned second in the shot put at 33-04.5 and second in discus at 102-00.

In the high jump, freshman Emma Steward came in third at 4-08.

Katherine Schneider earned first in the 800 at 2:47.58 and Scherer finished third at 2:52.65.

Schneider came in first in the 1600 at 6:01.67.

Erin Layne finished second in the 400 at 1:10.02. 

Sophomore Ally Conklin earned first in the 300 hurdles at 55.56.

White finished third in the 200 at 30.10.

IVC earned first in the 4x200 at 1:57.5 and second in the 4x400 at 4:50.8.

Results from the meet at Ottawa Thursday were not available before press deadline.

Boys

IVC 112, Hall 103

The boys had a successful day April 8 when hosting Spring Valley Hall.

The Grey Ghosts finished the day with 10 athletes earning first.

Sophomore Noah Benson earned first in the long jump at 17-07.5 and in the triple jump he took first at 36-11.

Sophomore Aaron Kirchner threw for 33-10.5 to earn first in the shot put.

Junior Jordan Ladd threw 129-08 in the discus for first and Kirchner was in second at 96-08.

In the high jump, junior Matt Keffler earned second at 5-02. Freshman Connor Simmons received third at 4-10.

Senior Kelley Noetzol ran for first in the 100 at 11:91 and sophomore Luke Patty was right behind in second at 12:26.

Junior Noah Gould earned first in the 800 at 2:17.91. Sophomore Logan Hoffman was in second at 2:27.6 and sophomore Brad Storm finished third at 2:31.25.

In the 400, Patty earned first at 54.13. Keffler received second at 56.64 and junior Riley Beard finished third at 58.55.

In the 1600, sophomore Ethan Sutherland earned second at 5:17.35 and Hoffman was behind in third at 5:31.94.

Patty earned first in the 200 at 24.35.

IVC defeated Hall in the 4x400 at 3:55 and in the 4x100 at 45.35.

Dual with Dunlap

The Grey Ghosts, then, hosted Dunlap Friday but no team scores were taken.

In the long jump, McElyea placed third at 18-07 and Benson followed in fourth at 17-08.5.

Benson earned first in the triple jump at 37-09.5 and McElyea followed in second at 36-03.

Ladd threw for second in the shot put at 40-04 and finished in third in the discuss at 117.

In the high jump, Keffler finished third at 5-04.

Gould ran for third in the 800 at 2:14.25 and sophomore Devon Noonen finished in sixth at 2:26.35.

In the 400, Patty earned first at 53.17 and Keffler was right behind in second at 53.71.
