Metamora soccer splits pair of games

The Metamora boys' soccer team hosted Mid-Illini rival Washington and fell, 2-0, Oct. 2.

The game remained scoreless until the 66th minute, when Washington scored two goals in less than a minute.

The team got back in the win column with a 4-0 crushing of Roanoke-Benson Thursday on the road.

Derrick Russell kicked in the first goal off an assist from Nick Danner in the 22nd minute and Danny Ausman added the second goal, also off an assist from Danner, in the 30th minute.

The last goal of the half came from assist machine Danner in the 33rd minute.

Metamora blasted in the last goal with 19 minutes left thanks to Russell.

The team next plays in the Regional at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at home.
