Boys golf loses in Regional
The Illinois Valley Central golf season came to an end Oct. 2 when the squad fell in the Metamora Regional.
"Obviously, we knew that was one of the toughest Regionals in the state," coach Jim Thornton said. "It was a really difficult day on a really tough course. Overall, we probably shot a little higher than we normally do in tournaments. The cut to make it out individually was 82 and the closest we had was 85. Overall, it was a tough situation that we were in in that Regional."
IVC placed last out of eight teams with a score of 369.
Washington finished first with 296 and Metamora shot a 300.
Justin Brabant shot an 85 and Jarom Hutson ended at 87.
Bryce Mack came in at 93 and Bryce Fislar at 104.
"Our duel matches were pretty good," Thornton said. "For the most part, at the nine hole matches, I thought we were pretty consistent. For the tournaments, we struggled a little and our scores weren't as good as I would have liked.
"Overall, it was a pretty good season with only two seniors on our team and a lot of young guys. If our kids get a lot of good work in over the offseason, we could be really good next year."
