The Illinois Valley Central cross country team’s season came to an end Saturday at the Oregon Sectional.

The boys’ team finished 21st and the girls 18.

“This was our first time running at Oregon,” coach Mike Themas said. “The weather was ideal. I thought both teams ran well.

“We have had a good year. It was a nice accomplishment just to get to the meet.”

For the girls, Liz Willford finished 87th overall and first for IVC in 21:52.

“Liz ran a good race to finish No. 1 for us,” Themas said. “Our usual No. 1 runner, freshman Erica Larson, twisted her ankle but still finished second for us.”

Aubrey Allison took third for the girls in 22:13 and Bethany Espinosa fourth in 22:21.

Molly Wang followed in 22:46 and Chelsey McClain in 24:22.

Rounding out the girls’ finishers was Shaylynn Burger in 24:28.

“For the boys, Ryan Greskoviak ran hard to place first for us in 17:54,” Themas said.

Caleb Magee took second for the boys in 17:59 and was followed by Drew Zadrzynski in 18:54.

Liam Price followed in 19:20 and Dusty Seckler finished in 19:22.

The final boys’ finishers were Evan Schultz in 20:05 and Spencer Delaware in 20:15.

“With no senior boys on this team, the team should be much improved next year,” Themas said.
