Soccer wins on the road

The Illinois Valley Central soccer team got back on the right track Thursday when they headed to Roanoke-Benson/Eureka and won, 5-2.

Roanoke-Benson/Eureka started the scoring when they blasted an unassisted goal in the eighth minute.

The Ghosts tied the game six minutes later when Alex Bernardi passed the ball to Keegan Gauwitz, who launched in a goal.

Nine minutes later, Gauwitz and Bernardi combined on an assist to Brendan Butler that put IVC up, 2-1.

With only four minutes before halftime, Connor Bogner shot in a score that gave IVC a two goal lead after the first half.

Roanoke-Benson/Eureka started the second half scoring 15 minutes into the half.

The Ghosts then bounced back when Sameer Al-Khenaizi sent home a goal four minutes later.

With eight minutes left, Ben Rashid scored the Ghosts final goal.

IVC next plays at 6 p.m. Thursday at home.
