Eagles' softball win two

Dunlap never could find its footing on April 12.

After giving up five runs in the second to Metamora, the team could only manage to get two runs in the sixth before falling, 7-2.

Brea Mercer lead the team with a two-run home run.

Nikki Matthew picked up the loss for the Eagles, striking out three and walking four.

On Thursday, after staying scoreless through five innings, Dunlap looked to be on its way to a 1-0 loss to Canton.

Two six inning RBIs by Nikki Matthew and Abby Akright helped give the girls the lead and eventually the win, 2-1.

Mercer did have a scare in the next inning after loading the bases with two outs. A groundout by Jordyn Chasteen finally ended the game for the Eagles.

Mercer got the win for the Eagles (9-5, 1-3), getting five strikeouts and three walks.

Monday, after a slow first inning start, the Eagles bats came alive, scoring nine in the second inning to help Dunlap coast to a 17-5 win in five innings against Eureka.

Eureka scored all five of their runs in the first inning to go ahead 5-1.

Both Erin Murphy and Amanda Radosevic had three RBIs each, while Mercer had one, along with a double.

Matthew was the winning pitcher, striking out one while walking five. Abby Akright also got some pitching time in.

Dunlap stays on the road this week, taking on Limestone Thursday before traveling to the Maroa-Forsyth Tourney. The team then goes to Farmington on Monday and Pekin on Tuesday.
