Night games offer fun at IVCHS

The Illinois Valley Central baseball season has begun and the Chillicothe area is invited to come out and support the team. There will be 20 games at home this season, with eight of them played at night.

Each of the eight night games will be special events with sponsors and field prize drawings for all fans.

They are as follows:

Opening Night at the Ghost Yard

“Opening Night at the Ghost Yard” begins at 7 p.m. tonight. The Grey Ghosts play Olympia in a game sponsored by the IVC baseball program and High 5 Sports.

Field prizes include: Ghost Yard T-shirts, IVC baseball hats, autographed baseballs and bleacher cushions.

Community Night

“Community Night” is sponsored by area merchants and will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday when the Ghosts take on Limestone.

Community leaders and organizations will be recognized.

There will be drawings for field prizes donated by area merchants each inning.

Merchants Night

“Merchants Night” will begin at 7 p.m. April 21 and is sponsored by area merchants.

The team will take on Princeton.

Select Chillicothe area merchants will be recognized.

There will be drawings for field prizes donated by area merchants each inning.

1950-60’s Night  

“1950 and 60’s” Night will begin at 7 p.m. April 27 as the teams wear throwback uniforms to take on Williamsville.

Sponsored by area merchants.

There will be drawings each inning for field prizes donated by area merchants.

Riverside Chevrolet Hot Dog Night

“Riverside Chevrolet Hot Dog Night” is sponsored by Riverside Chevrolet and will start at 7 p.m. April 29.

The team plays Roanoke-Benson.

There will be free hot dogs for all fans.

There will be drawings for field prizes donated by area merchants each inning.

Youth Baseball/Softball Night

“Youth Baseball/Softball Night” begins at 7 p.m. May 1 when the team takes on Joliet Catholic Academy.

The night is sponsored by area merchants.

Youth players from Chillicothe, Mossville and Rome will be recognized, take the field for the National Anthem and receive free hot dogs and chips.

There will be drawings for field prizes donated by area merchants each inning.

Tailgate at the Ghost Yard Night

“Tailgate at the Ghost Yard Night” is sponsored by area merchants and begins at 7 p.m. May 6 when the team takes on Metamora.

There will be a tailgate inside the park at 5 p.m. featuring a bags tournament, Frisbee contest and football accuracy throwing.

There will be drawings for field prizes donated by area merchants each inning.

Veterans’ Night

“Veteran’s Night” begins at 7 p.m. May 12 and is sponsored by area merchants.

The team plays Morton.

VFW, American Legion members and all veterans will be recognized.
