IVC boys start outdoor season
The Illinois Valley Central boys began the outdoor track season Thursday by coming in first with 132 points in a home meet with Princeville, Eureka, Flanagan and Kewanee-Wethersfield.
“Connor Bogner, Tyler Haas, Alex Schaefer and Drew Zadrzynski all had a good meet,” coach Mike Themas said. “We won this meet due to our depth. We placed in every event, except the long jump. This was a good start for our outdoor season.”
Coming in first was the 4x800 team of Bogner, Dusty Seckler, Tyler Hoffman and Liam Price with a time of 9:10.
Schaefer won the high hurdles with a time of 19.2.
Haas took first in the shot put with a throw of 38’9.25 and first in the discus with a throw of 113’2, a personal record.
Bogner finished first in the 800 when he ran a 2:11.6 and first in the 1600 when he ran a 5:16.3.
Other finishers include, second place: 4x100 (Austin Wilhelm, Zadryzynski, Caleb Bjerk and Caleb Rose) 47.1; 110 high hurdles, Bjerk, 19.4; pole vault, Schaefer, 11’6 (PR); 4x200 (Rose, Hunter Tisch, Cox and Evan Schultz) 1:42.4; high jump, Bogner, 5’6.
Third place: 3200, Joe Power-Wayvon, 12:07; high hurdles, Seckler, 20.0 (PR); discus, Keaton Judy, 96’11 (PR); 1600, Price, 5:21.2; triple jump, Schaefer, 34’11 (PR).
Fourth place: 800, Hoffman, 2:16.9; pole vault, Jeff Davis, 8’6; 400, Wilhelm, 58.6; 300 intermediate hurdles, Seckler, 47; 1600, Hoffman, 5:21.5; triple jump, Wilhelm, 33’1 1/2; high jump, Haas, 5’2; 4x400 (Bjerk, Seckler, Power-Wayvon and Schultz) 4:04.1.
Fifth place: pole vault, Cox, 7’; 200, Zadrzynski, 25.6.
The team next races at 4 p.m. Friday at Dunlap.
