IVC football preview

The Illinois Valley Central team is looking to close the season with a win when they welcome Prairie Central to Taylor Field Friday.

Before the game, which is Senior Night, seniors Brock Adcock, Trever Black, Blake Schultz, Bryan Pope, Jared Lauber, Brandon Earnest, Cody Bartholomew, Krisjan Callahan, Jarrod Teige, Dan Semtner, Cody Boswell, Jacob Jones, Ryan Davis, Bill Allison, DJ Hummer, Cam Wilmington, Rick Perham, Adam Otto, Dan Rudolph, Nic Dossett, Jordan Wiley and Tim Culbertson will be honored for their commitment to the Ghost football program.

Coming off a win against Spring Valley Hall, the Ghosts are ready to hone their skills before they start the playoffs.

The pairings for the first round of the playoffs will be announced Saturday.

On offense, the Ghosts will need more timely passes from quarterback Adcock to wideout Black, as well as strong running from running backs Semtner and Lauber.

Defensively, the Ghosts will need to contain the passing attack of Prairie Central with defensive coverage by cornerback Sherrarr Tate.

The team will also need to prevent Prairie Central from running to the endzone with lockdown tackling by Semtner and Perham.

If the Ghosts play like they have lately, they should head into the 2010 State playoffs with one final win under their belts.

The Ghosts play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home.
