The Illinois Valley Central cross country team finished up the home season Oct. 5 by taking on Peoria Central.

The boys won their meet, 15-47, and the girls grabbed an 19-43 victory.

“The boys had a perfect score, finishing 1-5,” coach Mike Themas said. “That doesn’t happen too often in cross country.

“The girls were close, scoring 19 points.

“I thought the team ran very well. For many of our team members, one of their individual goals is to get on the top 10 home record board. Several did accomplish that in this meet.

“Sophomore Ryan Greskoviak ran a personal record by four seconds but removed No. 2 on the list.

“Sophomore Dusty Seckler moved from No. 9 to No. 7.

“Sophomore Drew Zadryzynski ran a personal record to finish No. 10 on the list.

“For the girls, sophomore Shaylynn Burger ran a personal record by 40 seconds to make the list at No. 9.

“Overall, 10 personal records were set at the meet.”

Seniors Sarah James, Emily Pence, Caleb Bjerk and Zach Switzer were honored before the meet.

The Ghosts were scheduled to race Monday at Amboy.

The team next races at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rock Falls High School in the final regular season match of the year.

The team will start the postseason at the Regional Oct. 23.
