The Illinois Valley Central cross country team headed to Prairie Central Saturday for the Prairie Central Invite.
The boys team came in first, beating Gardner-South Wilmington by a score of 29-36.
“That was the first time that Gardner-South Wilmington has been beaten all year,” coach Mike Themas said.
Ryan Greskoviak came in third for the Ghosts and Dusty Seckler finished fifth.
The girls team finished third with a score of 103.
“There were six different races at the meet,” Themas said. “We had 19 runners and 15 of those earned a medal.
“The course was muddy. It was windy and cold.
“Our times weren’t our best but we did a nice job of competing.”
IVC was scheduled to run at home Tuesday.
The Ghosts next race at 10 a.m. Monday at Amboy High School.
