Golfers win conference

IVC golf vs. Peoria Christian and Princeton

The Illinois Valley Central golf team headed to Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course in Princeton Thursday for the North Central Illinois Conference Tournament and came home with first place.

The Ghosts’ score of 315 beat Princeton’s 331, Mendota’s 352, St. Bede’s 358, Spring Valley Hall’s 362 and Rock Falls’ 391.

Alex Koch stepped up for the team and shot a 77.

Glenn Maxey followed suit with a 78 and Tyler Myers ended the day with a 79.

Ryan Wargo finished the scoring with an 81.

Although their scores were not counted, Spencer Youngman shot an 85 and Austin Youngman shot a 101.

Koch’s 77 put him in a tie for the second lowest score with Jon Prescott of Mendota.

Maxey’s 78 put him in third.

Koch and Maxey were both voted first team All-Conference.

The Ghosts played in the Quincy Notre Dame Regional Tuesday.

If the team, or any individual players made Sectional, they will golf in the Havana Sectional Monday.
