Golf at Princeton
The Illinois Valley Central varsity linksters finished fourth at the Princeton Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday at Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course.
Alex Koch placed sixth individually with a 79 on the par 72 course.
IVC carded a 342, led by Koch. T.J. Ross was second for IVC with an 85, Jared Johnson third with an 86, and Glenn Maxey fourth with a 92.
At Newman Golf Course in Peoria Thursday, IVC beat Limestone, 172-174, but dropped to Central, whose team had a 170.
Koch again led the team with a 40, followed by Maxey with a 41, Ross 45 and Johnson 46.
Drake Rundall finished with a 49, and Austin Youngman had a 53.
On Sept. 16, IVC traveled to Hall to play the hosts at Spring Creek in a non-conference match.
The varsity team finished with 178 to Hall’s 176.
Johnson took top honors with a 40, followed by Koch 44, Maxey 46 and Ross 48.
Rundall had a 50 and Youngman a 53.
The junior varsity team had a 213 to Hall’s 193.
Scorers were Louie Hoerr 50, Tyler Schmit 54, Daniel Heinz 54 and Kyle Mooney and Ryan Wargo each with a 55.
The Grey Ghosts host Dunlap at Arrowhead Country Club today, compete at Pontiac Thursday and head to Canton Saturday.
