Letter: Show support, buy doughnuts

For almost five decades, since 1967 a volunteer organization in our town has selflessly served our citizens and provided them with free transportation to Peoria hospitals with emergency medical treatment. In all of those years, our people have supported that service with donations and were very happy to do it.

At the end of this month they are having another donut sale and as usual many volunteers will be at their home base, working hard — making donuts to raise money so they can continue helping people in need. The majority of our people in Chillicothe appreciate the group and have always appreciated them. But in recent months these citizens could not help out their longtime friend because they were not allowed to exercise their only weapon — the vote!

But now the people can speak with the purchase of a box of donuts, and the more money raised the more voice’s will be heard, voices that earlier fell upon deaf ears. So if you still love and appreciate the organization even more than ever, help out by putting the total over the top.

These are good, caring people and whatever is their future, these donations, as they say, will not be wasted.

In all of my years, I have never seen a hometown service of volunteers give more to a community and want only friendship in return.

Show how you would have voted, and buy some sweet monsees from Rescue 33 and help them with their endeavors.
