CHILLICOTHE — Legendary blues artist John Primer and the Real Deal Blues Band will bring Chicago blues to Chillicothe Public Library on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m.

John Primer is a legend among blues artists: a two-time Grammy nominee, Primer helped to build the sound and style of Chicago blues over his decades-long career. He was the bandleader and guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Magic Slim & the Teardrops. Having played or recorded with a “Who’s Who” of blues greats, John Primer’s personal accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, reflect his countless contributions to the history of Chicago blues. There are very few fans, critics, or musicians who will deny that John Primer is the real deal.

With strong traditionalist blues phrasing, seasoned rhythm and blues vocals, and lightning-fast slide guitar techniques, Primer and the Real Deal Blues Band will present “The Blues According to John Primer,” a high-energy Chicago blues show.

This is a rare opportunity to see John Primer and his band outside of Chicago, and to hear Primer discuss his musical life and experiences in the post-concert talk and Q&A.

The free concert and talk will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Chillicothe Public Library, 430 N. Bradley Ave., Chillicothe, IL 61523. For more information, please visit or call 309-274-2719.
