Bald Eagle Days coming to Shore Acres
The Chillicothe Rotary and Lions Clubs have announced several activities planned for the 10th annual Bald Eagle Celebration on Feb. 13 at the Shore Acres Park Clubhouse.
Bald Eagle Days will be highlighted by several events.
An all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast will be held from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tickets are $7 per adult and $3 per child (10 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance from any Lions or Rotary Club member. Tickets are also available at Happy Thought Coffee.
Wildlife Prairie Park will present their Birds of Prey exhibit, sponsored by South Side Bank, which features the American Bald Eagle from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Eagle sculptures created by chainsaw sculptor Tim Gill will be on display and will be auctioned off at 10:30 a.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Native American storyteller, Jo Lakota, will share tales of the American Eagle.
At 10 a.m. winners of the photography and art contest will be announced.
At 10:15 a.m. winners will be announced for the children’s coloring contest.
Author and photographer, David Zalaznik will autograph copies of his book “Life on the Illinois River.”
Friends of River Beach Drive, the Peoria Audubon Society, Ducks Unlimited, and the Chillicothe Bottoms Project will be exhibiting.
Art contest entries and photo entry winners will also be on display.
The photography contest and art contest are currently taking place. Entries will be on display at the Chillicothe Public Library from Feb. 6-20.
Viewers may vote for the people’s choice winner until February. The Children’s Eagle Art Contest rules and entry forms are available at Illinois Valley Central District 321 schools, or by contacting the chairman, at 579-2860.
Deadline for the art contest is Jan. 31.
