Wedding: Hollein, Sommers

Deron and Joan Sommers

Joan Elizabeth Hollein and Deron Sommers, both of Germany, were married May 3, 2014, at Hainerberg Chapel in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Parents of the couple are the late Dorothy Hollein and William Hollein of Breese, Ill., and Gerald and Georgia Sommers of Edelstein. Grandmother of the groom is Marjorie Reynolds of Nokomis.

The Rev. Edward Ohm, Army chaplain of Mattoon performed the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by the groom’s parents.

A reception took place at Schloss Reinhartshausen in Eltville, Germany, followed by a wedding trip to the Canary Islands.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, a 2003 graduate of Western Illinois University, where she received a sociology degree, and a 2007 graduate of Webster University, where she received a master of arts degree in management. She also is a 2012 graduate of the National Intelligence University, where she received a master of science degree in strategic intelligence.

The groom is a 1998 graduate of Illinois Valley Central High School, a 2000 graduate of Illinois Central College and a 2002 graduate of Western Illinois University, where he received a mechanical engineering degree.

The couple is employed by the U.S. Army, holding ranks of majors.

The couple lives in Germany.
