Day Care Resources Inc. announces the appointment of Dana Edward Rein as Executive Director.  Dana is a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Business Administration. He has worked for Day Care Resources for more than 20 years and has served on the Board of Directors for two years.

Day Care Resources is a sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This program pays for nutritious meals and snacks served to children in day care. Since over 85 percent of clients serve low income children or at-risk areas, the program often serves as a safety net to ensure that kids have a reliable source of healthy meals.  Although the program mainly focuses on DCFS licensed child care homes, Day Care Resources has expanded their services over the years. First, Day Care Resources opened a specialized field office in Lake County to better serve Spanish speaking clients. Then the program opened up to include license exempt child care homes eligible through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). A few years ago, the program started serving non-profit and low income child care centers.  Overall, the program reaches about 23,600 children.

Day Care Resources has 12 field offices throughout Illinois. Field Monitors visit each facility to ensure that day care personnel have the tools and assistance they need to be successful. Monitors often help improve or plan menus, educate on important nutrition topics, and provide lesson plans to teach children about physical activity and good nutrition.  Since Day Care Resources feels it is imperative to give kids the best start in life with good nutrition, they even have their own Registered Dietitian on staff. The dietitian develops nutrition training and serves as an instructor to dietetic interns through a partnership with Illinois State University.

Although Day Care Resources has been in business for over 30 years, they recently opened a new chapter in their history. They opened a new administrative office at 120 Lake Street in Tremont. This building was designed to meet needs as programs diversify and will help support Day Care Resources programs for many years to come.
