Residents ready to get away from the doldrums of winter and catch a movie may be interested in a couple special promotions at Town Theatre.

Town Theatre is offering Reel Classic Wednesday for the next six weeks at the theater, located at 1029 N. Second St. in downtown Chillicothe.

At 2 p.m. every Wednesday a classic movie from the 1930s and 1940s will be shown at the historic theater, owned by the Chillicothe Optimist Club.

Tickets are $5 each and concessions will be available.

“It’s a way for folks to go to the movies who don’t want to fight the crowds or the kids, or even moms who have kids in school,” Optimist Irvin Latta said.

The schedule of movies is as follows:

March  5 — “The Little Princess” (starring Shirley Temple and Cesar Romero)

March 12 —“Penny Serenade” (Irene Dunne and Cary Grant)

March 19 — “Life with Father” (David Niven)

March 26 — “Anna Karenina” (Vivien Leigh)

April 2 — “Made for Each Other” (Carol Lombard and James Stewart)

April 9 — “My Favorite Brunette” (Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour)

Additionally, residents may enjoy a discounted break on Late Night Date Night at the 9 p.m. shows on Friday and Saturday.

As a treat to those out for Valentine’s Day initially, the theatre offered a deal to pay for one ticket and get another for free.

Latta said the discount does not have to be just for those dating, it can be friends.

Adults are regularly $6 per ticket and $5 for children and seniors.
