IVC Homecoming parade entries sought, volunteers needed for bonfire
IVC Homecoming is coming up with activities the week of Sept. 19. Parade entries are needed by Friday, and volunteers are needed to help build the bonfire.
Homecoming parade entries needed by Friday
IVC High School’s Homecoming's theme this year is Disney. The parade will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 23 down Second Street in Chillicothe.
If residents are interested in participating with a parade entry, call IVC High School at 274-5481 or the parade committee chairman Madeline Martin at 657-9941 and give a brief description of your idea for the parade.
Proof of insurance needs to be given to IVC High School. Entries should be turned in by Sept. 16.
Volunteers sought to build bonfire
Volunteers are sought to help keep a longstanding Illinois Valley Central High School tradition alive.
Volunteers are needed to build the IVC High School homecoming bonfire Sept. 22.
Susan Lawson is organizing the volunteer effort and asks anyone who is able to volunteer to meet at the far west side of IVC High School’s north parking lot at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 22. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves if possible.
The bonfire is traditionally Thursday night after the class skits, pep rally and the naming of homecoming king and queen. The couple will light the bonfire.
Community volunteers have built the bonfire each year since 2002.
For more information about volunteering, contact Lawson at 253-5787.
