Members of the school board help break the ground for the construction of Hickory Grove Elementary School.

The ground was broken for Hickory Grove Elementary School on April 5.

During the ceremony, board member Steve Rieker called the school a neighborhood school as he referenced the subdivision behind it.

The school is being built at the corner of Hickory Grove Road and Allen Road.

Now that the ground has been broken by the school board, Superintendent Dr. Jay Marino said that the site work will start to prepare the land for the school.

“There’s a whole series of moving earth and starting to bring water and utilities and all of that into the site,” he said.

“It is preparing the ground for construction of the elementary. So, you’re going to start seeing a lot of trucks and earth-movers and utilities starting to come on that site as early as (April 12).”

Marino added that visible evidence of the school being erected should come this summer.
