A Chillicothe man has been arrested for allegedly stealing multiple tanks of laughing gas from the hospital where he worked over the course of several months.

Eric J. Rebholz, 33, was booked into the Peoria County Jail on Sunday on charges of theft and manufacture or delivery of nitrous oxide.

A security employee from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center contacted police after Rebholz allegedly admitted to the thefts and had his employment terminated at the end of July, according to a Peoria police report.

The security officer interviewed Rebholz after looking into reports of missing nitrous oxide tanks and full tanks of the gas replaced with empty containers.

Rebholz allegedly admitted to stealing 20- and 8-pound tanks every week for the last seven or eight months and selling them for $10 per pound.
