A 23-year-old Edwards woman who was last seen at a wedding reception in Chillicothe on Saturday night has become the subject of a widespread search effort.

Julie Peters was last seen between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Saturday leaving the American Legion at 1043 N. 2nd St. in Chillicothe. She was wearing a peach-colored dress and driving a light blue 2004 Chevy Impala.

About two-dozen friends and family convened at the Chillicothe Fire Department on Tuesday to search for her and were directed by police to travel routes between Chillicothe and Edwards to try to find her vehicle.

The missing woman's sister, Stacy Peters, said it was uncharacteristic for Julie Peters to be out of contact with family. She had left her two young sons with her mother Saturday night so she could attend the wedding.

"I've been looking for her car between Chillicothe and Peoria, the places I think she might have gone," Stacy Peters said. "I'll search the whole country for her if I have to."

A friend of the missing woman who helped organize the search Tuesday said Julie Peters would not have abandoned her boys.

"She's a very, very good mother and a responsible person," Abby Maurer said.
