A Chillicothe man doing some road repairs on his private property was killed Sunday morning after he was apparently pinned between his vehicle and a dirt embankment.

Arco L. Rosenow, 76, of 1223 E. Hallock Hollow Road was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m. Sunday.

According to Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll, Rosenow was spreading gravel on a private road leading to his home when the road-grading implement he was using overturned. Rosenow apparently exited the pickup to fix the grader when the vehicle shifted and pinned him between the driver’s side door and the embankment.

Rosenow was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived. An autopsy was scheduled for today. Ingersoll said preliminary investigations indicate Rosenow was killed by asphyxiation as a result of being pinned.
