Authorities in southeast Indiana are searching for a former Chillicothe man who escaped from prison in July.

William “Billy” J. Gajdik, 38, was serving a 10-to-20-year sentence for burglary in Nebraska.

He was in the work release program and walked away, setting in motion a warrant for escape.

He was named a person-of-interest by the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit in burglaries and a shooting in Bright, Ind., Sept. 6.

A man was shot and his black Ford Thunderbird with an Indiana license plate was stolen. Gajdik allegedly was last seen driving the vehicle. Indiana officials consider him armed and dangerous.
