A Chillicothe man once again faces charges, this time for underreporting his income.

William Patrick “Pat” Prather, 52, of 3107 E. Cavalier, entered a blind guilty plea Thursday in U.S. District Court at the Peoria federal courthouse.

He is charged with filing a false 2001 federal tax return with the Internal Revenue Service.

Prather expected to be charged with tax violations and possibly money laundering, according to court documents dated November 2004. He also met with an IRS investigator to help with the investigation, according to court documents.

His sentencing is July 18.

In August 2003, he was arrested after being linked to more than 100 guns.

According to an affidavit filed by special agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a joint investigation was conducted with the Internal Revenue Service on Aug. 14, 2003, at Variety Specialties and Amusements Co. at 110 Main St. in Lacon in Marshall County.

Prather is the owner/operator of the business and is a convicted felon for an illegal gambling business in violation of Title 18, U.S.C.

He was convicted for two counts of illegal possession of firearms and probation violation.
