Red Kettle Run set for Saturday

PEORIA --  The Salvation Army Corps Community is holding its first annual “Red Kettle Run” Saturday.

The first-time event will be a two mile run, but will grow into a 5K in subsequent years.

“We want people to sign up in advance, but there will be day of registration as well,” said Nicki Yocum, Corps Activity Director.

The run will start and end at the Corps Community Center at 2903 W. Nebraska Ave. in Peoria and will wind its way through the area neighborhoods.

Cost is $25, which will help support Salvation Army local outreach programs. There will be awards for the top three finishers in each age group. Sign-in is at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m.
