PEORIA—Chick-fil-A will celebrate the opening of its Peoria location Oct. 25 4518 N. Sterling Ave. by giving away a one-year supply of Chick-fil-A to the first 100 adults in line.

The Chick-fil-A First 100 celebration has become standard practice for the Atlanta-based fast food chain where 100 one-year supplies of Chick-fil-A meals are given away. The one-year supply is 52 certificates for free meals. The total cost of the giveaway is estimated at $26,000.

The line officially opens at 6 a.m. Oct. 24, with the free meal cards being awarded Oct. 25, about 6 a.m. The restaurant will open for business immediately thereafter.

If there are more than 100 people by 6 a.m. on Oct. 24, all 100 spots will be determined by raffle.

Peoria’s new Chick-fil-A restaurant brings with it more than 75 new jobs and features the chain’s latest interior and kitchen design along with dual drive-thru ordering lanes to expand its award-winning drive-thru service.

Franchised Chick-fil-A Operator Jason Counselman has been selected to operate the new stand-alone restaurant in Peoria. After joining Chick-fil-A 15 years ago, Counselman became an operator in 2008 and is relocating from a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Davenport, Iowa. Counselman and his wife, Hannah, are excited to open Peoria’s first stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant.

“Chick-fil-A has come a long way since Truett (Cathy) opened that first tiny Chick-fil-A restaurant in an Atlanta mall 45 years ago, but one thing has remained constant – our focus on providing top quality food in a friendly neighborhood environment,” Counselman said. “My team members and I share that same commitment at our new restaurant and can’t wait to welcome and serve our new guests.”

The new restaurant seats 132 with additional outdoor seating and has warm colors and wood accents and drive-thru service. The new restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m.

The new Peoria Chick-fil-A is one of 96 new restaurants the chain plans to open across the country this year, creating nearly 7,000 new jobs. Despite the challenging economy, Chick-fil-A continued to grow in 2011, reporting record-setting annual sales of more than $4 billion, representing a 13 percent increase over 2010 and the 44th consecutive year of sales growth since the company began in 1967.
