Final German festival of year at Hickory Grove Oct. 2

Samantha Ireton lines up a shot at the shooting gallery Sunday. Besides shooting at a traditional target, shooters could also try to shoot the stem of a rose or wooden cutout of a bird.

THREE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

1. Schlachtfest, the final German festival for 2011, is set to entertain patrons at Hickory Grove Park on Oct. 2. The festival, which is free, will go from noon-8 p.m.

2. The event will feature entertainment throughout the day with German folk dancing and music. In addition to this, there will also be a shooting tent, bingo, gift tent and a fine arts and craft village. Finally, a German car Cruis’n will also be available to see early in the afternoon.

3. Besides featuring various entertainment, there will also be full German dinners served throughout the day. Sandwiches will also be available separately. There will also be German beer and other beverages available for purchase.
