Dunlap student Roplekar Rohan recently took first place in the national junior vocabulary bee sponsored by the North South Foundation.

To get to the national level, Rohan, a third-grader, won first at the Peoria Chapter of NSF during the spring. He was then invited to compete at the national level at San Jose University during the first weekend in September.

Rohan was presented the Golden Trophy from Kavya Shivshankar, the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee winner. He also received a Certificate of Excellence and a $1,000 scholarship to redeem during his first year of college.

The North South Foundation is a non-profit organization that encourages excellence in education among Indian American students. It was established in 1989.
