Soccer shuts out IVC

The Dunlap soccer team would not let Illinois Valley Central find its rhythm on Thursday.

Six different Eagles scored at Dunlap Stadium to lead the team to a 6-0 shutout.

The scoring started for the Eagles just 2 minutes and 45 seconds into the game, when Kieran Lynch launched a ball that went through the IVC keeper’s hands.

The next goal would not come until 25:04, when the Eagles had a throw-in close to the Grey Ghosts’ net. Both teams scuffled for the ball before Trevor Cross finally got a shot into the goal.

Just 20 seconds later, Andrew McMillan kicked a cross shot that hit the goal post and spun into the net.

Ending the first half scoring was Austin Cross, putting the ball over the goalies head for a goal in the 30th minute.

Twelve minutes into the second half is when Ryan Kocher scored off an assist from Trevor Cross.

The last goal of the game came from Zachary Castaline, with 3:25 left in the game.

The Eagles had 14 shots on goal, while limiting IVC to four. Both Austin Wagner and Austin Lopez split time as goalie for Dunlap.

On Sept. 13, two goals by Grant Billimack helped Metamora’s boys soccer team hang on to beat Dunlap, 2-1.

The lone goal for the Eagles came from Trevor Cross in the 53rd minute.

Overall, the team had eight shots on goal, while Austin Wagner had five saves.

Saturday, the Eagles beat both Elgin St. Edwards, 7-0, and Sycamore, 5-0, at the Hononegah Indian Cup.

Lynch had a hat trick in the first game, while McMillan had two goals.
