Residents asked to stay off equipment at Santa Fe Park

Men continue working at Santa Fe Park around the concrete specialty work that will go throughout the park.

Though Santa Fe Park was expected to be finished in mid-September, it now looks like the renovations will be complete by the end of the month or beginning of October.

“Based on the weather we’re having right now, we’re thinking we won’t get much use of the splash pad this year,” said Chillicothe Park District Director of Parks and Recreation Kevin Yates.

Officials do ask residents to refrain from using the playground equipment until it has its final inspection.

Additionally, what is not dirt will be seeded with grass soon, and Yates asked residents and children to stay off the areas to allow the grass to grow.

Some concrete was poured last week, and that continued early this week.

The work on the specialty concrete, which is poured and then stamped, will look even better once its power washed, Yates said. The color will be more vibrant.

“It’s going to look like brick,” he said.

The entryway bricks should be laid late this week or next week.

The splash pad’s plumbing is complete so concrete will be poured in that area. Once that is done, the equipment will be mounted to it.
