Dunlap cross country finishes strong at Galesburg

Both cross country teams had a good day Sept. 3 at the Galesburg Invite.

The boys team finished second with 89 points on the 3.04 mile track. The only team that beat them was United Township, who scored 35 points.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Zachary Plank, who finished in 17 minutes, nine seconds. Both Matthew Weber and Anthony Holshouser were right behind him with times of 17:30 and 17:37, respectively.

Rounding out the top five for the Eagles were John Eberle with an 18:05 and Noah Neace with an 18:12.

Plank, Weber, Holshouser and Eberle were all individual medalists.

On the girls side, the Eagles took fifth with a score of 125, four points behind East Peoria.

Dixon finished in first with 60 points.

Earning individual medals for the team were the top three finishers: Allison Verville, Abigail Jockisch and Danielle Snarr. Verville finished in sixth overall with a 20:10, Jockisch came in with a 20:57 and Snarr crossed the line in 21:29.

On Saturday, the teams competed at Woodruff Invitational at Detweiller Park.

The boys took 10th out of 47 teams in 2A with a total of 386 points. Plank led the team with a 36th-place finish.

On the girls side, the Eagles finished 19th of 44 teams with 586 points. Verville took 18th overall.
