Dunlap girls track takes second at home

The Dunlap girls track team were only eight points away from taking first from Metamora on April 5.

However, third place Canton helped play spoiler by getting 24 points, letting Metamora take first at the three team invite with a final score of 85. Dunlap finished with 77 points.

Leah Brooks finished in first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 28.4 seconds. Brooks also took first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:30 and the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:32.4.

Kedryn Orrison also had multiple first-place finishes for the Eagles. She took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.1, and the discus throw with a distance of 96-feet-eight-inches.

Other first-place finishes for the Eagles include Norris Akpan in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.7 and Sawyer Simpson took first in the long jump with a distance of 16-7.

The Eagles go to the Ottawa ABC Meet Friday before coming home to face East Peoria on Tuesday.
