One big inning was all it took for Illini Bluffs on March 29.

The Dunlap girls softball team gave up four runs in the top of the third, and never could recover, getting their first loss of the season, 4-1.

The Eagles had the bases loaded in the bottom of the third with just one out. While Gabby Akright was able to get an RBI for the team by hitting into a 4-3 fielder’s choice, the team still left two runners stranded on base to finish the inning.

Alissa Recker went 4-for-4 on the day. Brea Mercer was the losing pitcher, getting five strikeouts and no walks.

Dunlap travels to Midland on Wednesday and Washington on Thursday, before coming home to face Midwest Central Saturday.
