GIRL SCOUT TROOPS 4028 and 4138 are spon. a breakfast 8:30 a.m.-noon Sunday at St. Edward Parish Hall. Cost of tickets is $7/adult, $5/child and free/children 5 and younger for pancakes, biscuits/gravy, fruit, homemade breads, pastries, etc.
PEORIA HUMANE SOCIETY is bringing Paws to Read to the Chillicothe Public Library Saturday. Children 8 years and older are invited to sign up to read a book of their choice to a registered therapy dog. The children have fun with a furry friend and improve their reading skills. Children must be registered in advance for this special program. Call the Humane Society at 494-8171.
VALENTINES! workshop is 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the library. Children of all ages welcome. If coming to Paws to Read, patrons may join workshop before or after the reading time.
CHOCOLATE OLYMPICS are 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the library for teens. Compete with friends to be crowned Chocolate Champion.

Ward 4 candidate Jeff Rushin filed a withdrawal of candidacy notice Wednesday, according to Chillicothe City Clerk Sharon Crabel.
Rushin will not be listed on the ballot, which leaves incumbent Judy Cantwell running uncontested.
Running as a write-in candidate is Danny Colwell for Ward 2 alderman.
He joins newcomers Jettia Draper and Alex Block. The trio is running for Troy Childers Sr.'s seat, who is facing Gary Fyke for the mayor's seat.
