Robert Morris University Illinois invites all college students to participate in The Chicago Shorts Festival.

Together with DePaul University and Columbia College Chicago, the schools are encouraging would-be filmmakers to create short films that take on a conceptual approach to the theme of "Planet at risk. What defines your planet?"

The films will be screened at each school and the culminating event with the announcement of the festival winners will be at the Gene Siskel Theater April 14.

In addition to the fame that will accompany the winning entry, there will be $1,000 in cash prizes. It is free to enter and free to attend the screenings.

Submissions will be accepted Feb. 15 through March 15.

Students are directed to begin the application process through the Festival website, chicagoshortsfestival.org, or they can email questions to info@chicagoshortsfestival.org.
