Bald Eagles Day festivities are from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Shore Acres Park Clubhouse.

The Chillicothe Lions Club and Rotary Club will serve a pancake and sausage breakfast.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $6 per adults and $3 per child (under 12), or advanced tickets may be purchased from any Rotary or Lions club member.

The judges are working hard to decide on the first-, second- and third-place winner of the photo contest.

There was also a good turnout for the children’s art contest, with art from a lot of talented children in the Chillicothe area.

There were three classes — K-3, 4-6, 7-8 — and each class will have a first-, second- and third-place winner. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. The pictures will go to the Chillicothe Public Library for display for a few weeks.

Wildlife Prairie Park will have a live eagle show plus owls on display.

The Audubon eagle video will be shown continuously at the clubhouse.

Woodcarver Jim Miller, a Silver Dollar City-trained craftsmen, will also demonstrate his wood carving.

Specially designed jewelry by Teresa Bohanan will be for sale to benefit the Chillicothe Skate Park.

Kids of all ages can make a hand eagle puppet that day. There will be two door-prize winners who will receive a porcelain eagle from Gill’s Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning and a gift basket from Mediacom.

The Chillicothe Marketing & Tourism Commission, Chillicothe Rotary and Lions clubs, Chillicothe Park District and the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce have been working very hard to present this event.

Bring binoculars and a camera in order not to miss out on the majestic eagles.
