Player E. “Bud” Cook

Player E. “Bud” Cook, age 84, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Proctor in Peoria.

Bud was born on September 23, 1937 in Chillicothe, IL to Player G. and Margaret (Moore) Cook. He married Patricia Wooden on December 29, 1961 in Lawrence, KS. She preceded him in death on June 2, 1972. He then married Marilyn Kempf on June 29, 1973 in Phoenix, AZ.

Surviving are his children, Patrick (Katie) Cook of Dallas, Texas, Michael (Tracy) Cook of Dallas, Texas and Marilyn Kelli Cook of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, Benjamin and Jillian. Also surviving are Brother Robert (Joyce) Cook, and three nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Patricia.

Bud graduated from Monmouth College and then graduated with Master’s of Mathematics Degree from the University of Kansas. He spent his early years as a Mathematics professor, followed by a long and successful career of 28 years with IBM. An avid fan of Corvettes, Bud was often seen cruising around Chilli in his Maroon Corvette Convertible.

Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery.
