Jerry Gramke

Peoria, AZ - Jerry Gramke, age 80, of Peoria, Arizona passed December 21, 2021, at Banner Boswell Medical Center, with his family at his side following a courageous struggle with COPD, Aspiration pneumonia and lingering Covid. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on August 10, 1941, the son of the late Leo and Eva (Witherspoon) Gramke. Jerry married Linda (Linn) Schlosser on March 10, 1973 in Chillicothe, Illinois at St. Edwards Church and they shared nearly 49 years together.

Jerry served his country proudly in the Air Force for 20 years from 1960 to 1980 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving three courageous tours of duty. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Villa Park, IL as a telecommunications instructor with GTE which later became AG Communications. Through a promotion in 1988, he was transferred to Arizona and resided in Peoria and retired from AG Communications in 2006. Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan, a Phoenix International Raceway season ticket holder for the annual two races per year. In 2005 Jerry and his 1957 Chillicothe Grey Ghost football team were inducted into the Greater Peoria, IL High School sports hall of fame. Jerry also coached his boy's baseballs teams and daughter's softball team.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; 5 children: Scott (Maryellen) Schlosser of Naperville, IL., Jeffrey Schlosser of Chandler, AZ., Jerry Lee (Lori) Gramke of Charleston, SC., Julie (Gary) Flippin of Litchfield Park, AZ., Kelly Gramke of Peoria, AZ.; 8 grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, Grant, Miles, Julia, Aubrey, Nathan and Averi. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sarah Ann Gramke, son, Jeffery Gramke, daughter in law, Amy Schlosser.

His sister Sandy (Gramke) Sutton of Chillicothe, IL. passed on December 23, 2021

Memorial services will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ. 85024 on January 7th.
