Jeffrey A. Chase, 60, of Chillicothe, Illinois, passed away on Jan. 4, 2019.

He was born June 21, 1958, in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James D. Chase and Mary Lou (King) Chase; his grandparents; and one son, Jason.

Surviving are one brother, James “Jim” A. Chase of Chillicothe; one son, Jeffrey S. Chase of Chillicothe and one daughter, Bobbie Joe Chase of Chillicothe.

Jeff was a free and easy-going spirit, appreciating all people for who they were, not for what they could do for him. He was often a good samaritan with his mechanic’s skills, helping family, friends and often strangers in need of assistance.

This man worked hard during his life, first learning and practicing his car mechanic skills at his father’s filling station/automotive shop; later for Caterpillar Inc.; for a Princeville Grain Elevator; and always on his own vehicles. Jeff’s favorite ways to relax were driving his car or riding his motorcycle. He made friends easily and remained a dedicated, trusted friend to all. Jeff loved his family unselfishly, and will be greatly missed by all with who he came into contact.

His celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at the VFW, 1729 Sante Fe Ave., Chillicothe.
