Samuel Harold Rubinfeld II, 72, of Ontonagon, Mich., passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in the comfort of his wife Pat and his children.

Samuel was born May 10, 1944, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Samuel and Ruth Ives Rubinfeld. His father Samuel was a physician from 1936 to 1949 in Ontonagon, Mich., before he moved his family to Chillicothe, Ill. He married Rebecca Boyd in 1965, then married Patricia Geef in 1973.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Geef) Rubinfeld of Ontonagon, Mich.; one son, Jon ( Renee) Rubinfeld of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Lori Turner of Richland, Mich., Kathy (Tim) Culbertson of Chillicothe and Jenni (Daniele) Ferrari of Dunlap; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Sherman (June) Rubinfeld of McCormick, S.C., and Charles (Marj) Rubinfeld of Temple City, Calif. Sam is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He spent his grade school and high school years in Chillicothe and attended Western Illinois University. He worked in plant engineering in supervision for 25 years at Caterpillar Inc. Sam was interested in mechanical anything with emphasis on street rods, motorcycles and antique scooters.

Sam had a dynamic personality and loved people. He would talk to anyone. He had a strong faith in Christ.

Visitation took place from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Chillicothe Bible Church, with a memorial service that followed at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Joe Horn officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chillicothe Bible Church.

There will be a memorial service in Ontonagon, Mich., at a later date.
