Mr. King, 76, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at his home with family close by.
Dave was born June 25, 1941, in Peoria, to Virgil and Ydun King.
He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1959. He married Peggy K. Thompson Sept. 2, 1961, at the Methodist Church in Chillicothe.
Dave worked for Chillicothe Cartage for five years. He then worked for International Transport in East Peoria before transferring to Rochester, Minn., where he stayed for 18 years before its closing. He then worked for Olson Truck Insurance for 12 years.
Dave was able to spend quality times with his sons and grandsons — camping, boating and fishing along the Mississippi River.
He met many wonderful people during those times. He remenist often of the great times we had tent camping with close friends on the Mississippi sand bars. He also was able to take a boat trip with great friends down the Mississippi to the Gulf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his eldest sister Nola Rae; a nephew Jim Scales; a great-nephew Forrest Hernandez; a brother-in-law Raymond (Shirley) Hanslow; and a daughter-in-law Kimberly (Troy) King.
He is survived by his wife Peggy of 56 years and his children Todd (Wendy) King and Troy King of Rochester, Minn. Other survivors include five grandsons Dustin, Dylan, Casey, Conner, Caleb and a great-granddaughter Jaylen. A brother Lonny (MaryEllen) King; sister Janie (Sue) King of Eugene, Ore.; and sister Shirley (Ray) Hanslow of Indiana. He his also survived by many nieces, nephews and there families.
Burial services will take place at a later date in Chillicothe.
