LEXINGTON - A mother and her two small children died in a trailer house fire in Lexington early Saturday morning.


Dead are Hillery Peters, 27, Emerlyn Bennet, 3 and Sawyer Bennet, 16-months, according to a press release issued by McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate that all three died from carbon monoxide intoxication due to inhalation of smoke and soot.


At 3:36 a.m. fire departments from Lexington, Chenoa, Gridley, Towanda, Hudson and Normal were dispatched to a structure fire at 25083 N. Main St. in Westwind Estates in rural Lexington.


The cause of the fire is under investigation.
