PEORIA — A Central Peoria house fire Wednesday resulted in one person transported to a hospital, authorities stated.

The victim of the blaze at 4714 N. Edgebrook Drive didn't appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to the Peoria Fire Department.

Crews arrived at the house about 3 p.m. to find smoke seeping from the eaves and a resident on the front deck. The resident was assisted to a neighbor's front porch for medical evaluation.

It took about 10 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the flames. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Damage was estimated at $40,000.

The fire took place a few blocks southeast of the Glen Avenue-Sheridan Road intersection.
