PEORIA — Two people were taken to the hospital early Wednesday after being freed from a vehicle following an accident on North Galena Road.
Firefighters from the Peoria Fire Department were sent to the 8300 block of North Galena at about 7:30 a.m. on a report of a two-vehicle collision with a possible entrapment.
One vehicle sustained heavy damage to the driver’s side while the other had front-end damage, the department said in a news release.
Firefighters were able to move one person after about 10 minutes using hydraulic extrication tools.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Their conditions weren’t known.
The northbound and southbound lanes were shut down for a while the rescue effort was underway.
