CHILLICOTHE - We’ve got everything you need to celebrate the joy of reading with your family at the Chillicothe Public Library!
Sponsored by Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White, and the Illinois Center for the Book, Family Reading Night is an annual statewide event held the third Thursday in November that encourages families to make time to read together, which aids in developing life skills essential for success.
But wait! There’s more! Attendees who come dressed as a favorite book character and tag us in their photo on social media could win a prize! You can also add your favorite Family Read to the library display, and see what books other families are recommending too.
Do you know someone who has difficulty reading, writing, or with English as a second language? Please be sure to invite them to join us, too. We’ll have information available on adult literacy programs in Peoria County that are designed to help those struggling become functional in today’s society.
Family Reading Night 2018 will take place Thursday, Nov. 15 at 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Chillicothe Public Library, 430 N. Bradley Ave., Chillicothe, IL 61523. For more information, please visit chillipld.org or call 309-274-2719.
